Pet Emergency at QVS

With over 30 clinicians in our team plus two registered specialists in emergency and critical care, we are always open to assess your pet when they are unexpectedly ill or injured.

In addition to after-hours consultation and advice, Pet Emergency offers diagnostic evaluation and treatment of emergency conditions including:

Diagnostic imaging, including digital radiography and ultrasound
In-house blood testing
In-house urine and faecal testing
Emergency surgery with referral to our specialist surgical team

Emergency care in a specialist hospital

Pet Emergency is part of Queensland Veterinary Specialists team and as such, our emergency clinicians have constant access to leaders in the fields of small animal surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, reproduction, dentistry, cardiology, oncology and dermatology.

This means that if your pet’s emergency treatment requires additional specialist support we don’t need to refer your pet elsewhere as this expertise exists within our hospitals, as part of our multidisciplinary team.

No appointment needed

When you have a pet emergency, you do not need an appointment to see one of our experienced emergency veterinarians.

Just like in human emergency departments, we work on a triage basis, seeing patients based on medical urgency.

Due to the emergency nature of our work, wait times can be unpredictable but we work hard to give you a wait time indication, and to see your pet as quickly as possible.
